Hummus is an easy-to-make and delicious snack that is full of protein, fibre and healthy carbohydrates. Make the basic recipe or choose one of the other flavour options to mix it up.
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 large can organic chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp sea salt
For spicy hummus add to base recipe:
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- ½ tsp cracked pepper
- ¼ tsp cayenne
- Pinch turmeric
For olive hummus add to base recipe:
- 1/4 - 1/2 cup olives, pitted
For red pepper hummus add to base recipe:
- 1 red pepper, fresh or roasted
For basil hummus add to base recipe:
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
Mix all ingredients in a food processor or blender until smooth.
Serve with your favourite cracker and an assortment of veggies to dip.
